Bridgia B - Case Study
Bridgia is a consultancy business based in Shenfield, Essex, that helps Chinese companies exploit opportunities in the UK and the rest of Europe, and companies from the UK use the right strategy and connections in China.
They joined a trade mission to China organised by Essex County Council in November 2009 aiming to make new contacts and strengthen their relationships in the market. During the mission they formerly signed a contract with a client in the Jiangsu province, who operates in the IT industry and wants to grow their business in Europe. By making the trip to China the relationship with the client was sealed and senior management at Bridgia were appointed to complete a market research project and telemarketing exercise looking at potential sales in the UK. The value of this initial contract is £12k with further work expected as the project develops leading to the potential appointment of Bridgia as main representative in the EU.
‘This mission was of great help to explore the market and to identify potential partners. It was also an eye opener to develop our own marketing strategy and the way we present ourselves in international markets. I am planning to follow up on the relationships started in November and pursue all potential opportunities through the support available’
Jon Aarons - Executive Director, Bridgia B
During the mission Bridgia also completed a marketing and sales campaign for an insecticide company in the UK and sealed the relationships necessary for its operation in China. This initial work is expected to raise in excess of £20k.
As a direct consequence of the introductions made in China, Bridgia were able to identify and qualify 10 new prospects in the Jiangsu Province. They are currently providing advice to them all regarding their market entry strategy for selling products and services to the UK and Europe. They are expecting these relationships to lead to new contracts of value in excess of £50k.
