Prospects Learning Foundation - Case Study

Prospects Learning Foundation is a registered charity and a technical vocational training provider specializing in providing skills training and apprenticeships for the Construction, Aviation, Motor Manufacture & Engineering industries. The Foundation runs a network of schools and technical colleges in the South of England. In November 2009 they opted to join a trade mission to China with Essex County Council to explore the market and build their knowledge and understanding of the vocational system in China.

‘Our trip to China was a very important step that helped us define our international offer, we are very keen to explore links in Jiangsu and we will be hosting a visit from a delegation of officials from Changzhou to showcase one of our technical colleges in March 2010’

Neil Bates - Chief Executive, Prospects College

Thanks to the longstanding relationship with Jiangsu and the existing educational links between Essex and the Province, a number of high quality meetings were organized for Prospects in Suzhou, Nanjing and Changzhou. These discussions and additional research during the trip helped the Foundation to define their offer for the Chinese market. Prospects is now aiming to provide specialist aviation vocational training focused in maintenance repair and will also be looking to set up an apprenticeship structure with UK manufacturers currently operating plants in China.
